The Foundation first established its endowment at FSCJ in 2005, when the school was a community college, to provide scholars with the opportunity to obtain a vocational certificate or a two-year associate degree. The college has since evolved into FSCJ, a four-year state college, providing our scholars with the opportunity to choose between two four-year institutions. At FSCJ students are provided with a flexible commuter campus and a variety of associate and bachelor’s degrees where they can expand their skills and talents.
To support Scheidel Scholars at FSCJ, the Foundation funds a full-time Scholarship Advisor who provides monthly workshops for Scholars to build skills and peer relationships. Topics have included establishing healthy lifestyles, team building, defining life goals, and mapping out pathways to achieve graduation.
The Scheidel Foundation and family also hosts an annual banquet in recognition of students. Scheidel Scholars also give back to the community through Foundation activities such as home building for the local Habitat for Humanity.
The Scheidel Scholarship generally provides funding for a two-year degree or the equivalent thereof.
If accepted to FSCJ, Scheidel Scholars are recruited from the following institutions, on a space-availability basis:
All applicants are required to contact FSCJ’s Scheidel Scholarship contacts directly for all questions regarding eligibility, application components, verification, or general inquiries. The Foundation will not accept any scholarship applications or supporting documents.
